Everything you want to know about roofing, gutters, siding, and insurance claims — answered honestly by the Atlas team.

🏠 General Roofing
How do I know if I need a roof replacement vs. a repair?+
If your roof is under 15 years old with isolated damage — a few missing shingles, one specific leak — a targeted repair is often the right call. If it's 15–20+ years old, has widespread shingle damage, multiple leaks, or significant storm damage across the whole surface, a full replacement is usually more cost-effective long term. We'll give you our honest recommendation during your free inspection and never push a replacement when a repair will do the job.
How long does a roof replacement take?+
Most residential roof replacements are fully completed in a single day. Larger homes, complex rooflines, or roofs requiring deck replacement may take two days. We give you a firm timeline upfront and don't leave jobs half-done overnight.
What roofing materials do you install?+
For residential roofs, we primarily install GAF architectural asphalt shingles — the best value combination of durability, warranty, and curb appeal. We also install standing seam metal, R-panel metal, and modified bitumen for flat/low-slope sections. For commercial roofs we install TPO, EPDM, metal, and modified bitumen systems.
Can I install a new roof over my existing one?+
In most cases we recommend a full tear-off rather than overlaying. A tear-off lets us inspect and replace the roof deck if needed, ensures proper underlayment and flashing installation, and typically results in a longer-lasting roof. Many manufacturers also require a full tear-off to honor their warranty.
How long does a roof last?+
It depends on the material. GAF architectural asphalt shingles typically last 25–30+ years in Northeast Ohio's climate. Standing seam metal roofing can last 40–60+ years. The lifespan also depends heavily on installation quality, attic ventilation, and maintenance. A well-installed GAF roof with proper ventilation can far outlast a poorly installed one.
Do you offer a warranty?+
Yes — we provide a workmanship warranty on our labor, and as a 2026 GAF Certified™ Residential Roofing Contractor we can offer the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty on materials — one of the best manufacturer warranties in the industry. We'll walk you through all warranty details before starting any project.
📄 Insurance Claims
Will my homeowner's insurance cover a new roof?+
Storm damage, hail, and high winds are typically covered by homeowner's insurance. General wear and aging is usually not. We inspect your roof, document any storm or hail damage, and work with your adjuster to maximize your claim. Many of our customers end up paying only their deductible for a full replacement.
How long does the insurance claim process take?+
The timeline varies depending on the insurer and the extent of damage. Generally the process takes 2–6 weeks from inspection to approval. We help move things along by providing thorough documentation upfront and staying in communication with your adjuster throughout.
What if my claim is denied?+
A denial isn't always final. We can review the reason for denial, provide additional documentation, and assist with an appeal. We know what insurers look for and have helped many homeowners successfully appeal initial denials.
Does filing a claim raise my insurance rates?+
Weather-related claims typically have less impact on your rates than other types of claims. We recommend checking with your insurance agent, but most homeowners find the value of a covered replacement far outweighs any rate consideration.
💧 Gutters
How often should I clean my gutters?+
We recommend at least twice a year — once in late spring and once in late fall after leaves have dropped. Homes with heavy tree coverage may need cleaning 3–4 times a year. Clogged gutters can cause water to back up under your shingles, damage your fascia, and flood your basement.
What type of gutters do you install?+
We install seamless aluminum gutters custom fabricated on-site to your home's exact measurements. We offer K-style and half-round profiles in a range of colors. Seamless gutters have far fewer joints than sectional gutters, which means fewer leaks and a cleaner look.
Can I get free gutters with my roof replacement?+
Yes — qualifying roof replacements may include free gutter installation. Ask us about this offer during your free inspection and we'll let you know if your project qualifies. It's a great way to protect your home from top to bottom at a significantly better value.
🏡 Siding
What siding materials do you install?+
We primarily install vinyl siding and fiber cement siding (such as James Hardie). Vinyl is the most cost-effective option and requires virtually no maintenance. Fiber cement offers a more premium look and superior impact resistance. We'll recommend the right choice for your home and budget.
How long does siding installation take?+
Most single-family home siding replacements take 2–5 days depending on the home's size, the material, and whether any underlying repairs are needed. We'll give you a firm timeline before we start.
Will insurance cover hail-damaged siding?+
Yes — hail and wind damage to siding is typically covered by homeowner's insurance. We inspect, document, and work directly with your insurer to maximize your siding claim, just as we do with roof claims.
