What Types of Damage Does Insurance Cover?

Most homeowner's insurance policies cover sudden, accidental damage. Here's what typically qualifies.

🌨

Hail Damage

Even small hail can cause significant damage to asphalt shingles — knocking off granules, cracking shingles, and creating entry points for water. Hail damage is covered by most homeowner's policies and is one of the most common claims we handle.

💨

Wind Damage

High winds can lift, crack, or remove shingles — leaving your roof exposed to water infiltration. Wind damage above a certain speed is typically covered. We document wind damage thoroughly to support your claim.

Storm Damage

Severe storms can cause impact damage from falling branches, debris, or ice. If your roof has sustained damage during a storm event, it's worth having us inspect — the damage may not be visible from the ground.

Important: Don't wait too long after a storm.

Most insurance policies have deadlines for filing storm damage claims — often 12 months from the date of the storm. The sooner you have your roof inspected after a weather event, the stronger your claim. If you've experienced a recent storm, contact us today for a free inspection.

We're On Your Side — Not the Insurance Company's.

We advocate for you throughout the entire claim process. Our goal is to make sure your insurer properly covers the damage to your home — nothing more, nothing less.

We've helped hundreds of Northeast Ohio homeowners navigate storm damage claims. Many of our customers are surprised to find that their roof qualifies for a full replacement — covered almost entirely by insurance.

How do I know if I have storm damage?+
Often you can't tell from the ground. Hail damage in particular is very hard to spot without getting on the roof. Signs you might have damage include: missing or cracked shingles, granules in your gutters, dented gutters or vents, and any leaks inside your home after a storm. The safest thing is to have a professional inspect your roof after any significant weather event.
Does filing a claim raise my insurance rates?+
Filing a weather-related claim typically has less impact on your rates than other types of claims. Many insurers treat storm damage claims differently from at-fault claims. We recommend checking with your insurance agent, but most homeowners find the benefit of a fully covered replacement far outweighs any rate consideration.
What if my claim is denied?+
If your claim is denied, we can help you review the denial, provide additional documentation, and assist with an appeal. We know what insurers are looking for and how to present damage evidence effectively. Denials are not always final.
Do I need to be home for the inspection?+
We recommend being present for at least part of the inspection so we can walk you through what we find. However, we can conduct the inspection and share our full photo report with you digitally. We're flexible with scheduling.

Think You Might Have Storm Damage?

Don't leave money on the table. Our free inspection takes 30–45 minutes and could qualify you for a full roof replacement at no out-of-pocket cost.
